Sochi is Russia’s largest and most popular resort region. Stretching 147 km along the coast of the Black Sea, it offers the modern infrastructure and unique environment of a subtropical city
with the towering Caucasus Mountains reaching skyward to miles away. In Sochi, you will be sunbathing in the subtropical seaside weather and enjoying slope time in the mountains all just 45 minutes apart with the most convenient transportation system. On the map, Sochi can be found on the same latitude with Toronto, Nice, and the Gobi Desert. As its charming landscapes and scenery are so reminiscent of the Mediterranean, Sochi is often referred to as the Russian ”Riviera”. As Sochi is situated between the Caucasian Mountains and the Black Sea, it enjoys the most northern subtropical climate on earth. As a result, its Krasnaya Polyana Mountains have great snow conditions and are largely protected from the wind. These unique conditions cannot be found anywhere else in Europe.

  • MARINE STATION

This sea port is visible from afar, as the main building is crowned with a sharp high spire. The shape of the station resembles the Admiralty in St. Petersburg. You could simply enjoy the view opening on the most beautiful yachts and cruise liners from the pier, but we think you should definitely get on one and go on a short trip along the Black Sea coast. You will see nearby towns and settlements: Adler, Host, Matsestu, etc. Ship cruises depart from this port to Italy, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Greece. • OLYMPIC PARK

The Olympic Park is by rights considered a must-see for every visitor of Sochi. It was built for the 2014 Winter Olympics and has become an iconic outdoor entertainment complex, located on a picturesque seashore in the area of Nizhneimeretinskaya Bay. Palace and the Iceberg ice arena, the Olympic mountain village, the race track, on which one of the Formula 1 tournaments tour took place. There are also equipped paths for riding bicycles, rollers, Segways, football and basketball fields, and simulators. In the evening, when the lighting is on, the park becomes especially beautiful to the great delight of all its visitors. Located in the central square of the Olympic Park, it deserves particular attention and has become one of the city’s major attractions. It was there that the Olympic flame was lit: a huge bowl of 75 m in diameter and a stele-torch close by. The fountain itself looks like a giant firebird with fiery wings. The performance takes place to the sound of folk and popular Russian music, during which water jets reach different heights and move in tune with the melody. At the same time, the show is accompanied by specially selected lighting.

  • STALIN’S DACHA

Stalin’s dacha is the private residence of the notorious authoritarian leader, built in 1937 in Sochi. It is located at an altitude of 160 m above sea level, at the foot of Mount Akhun. You can visit it as part of an organized group tour. Make sure to pay attention to your guide’s every word, as they will tell you fascinating stories about the building and its owner. The best craftsmen of the time worked on the interior and exterior of the cottage. • ARBORETUM

The park was founded in 1889 by Mr. Sergei Khudekov, a local publisher and art expert, who personally searched for unique beautiful plants, brought seedlings from the entire world, nursed them, and created the best conditions for each and every one of them. Starting from spring, you can enjoy the fabulous sight of the flowering trees and bushes; cypresses, Himalayan cedars, Italian pines, date palms, Japanese sakura grow there. Local souvenirs are rather funny trinkets than works of applied arts: sea shells, painted stones or “Olympic” T-shirts, caps and toys. However, you can enjoy shopping here too. It should be noted that Sochi has no luxury boutiques, and a mix of variously priced goods in one shop is common place.
