You will admire the Northern Dvina Embankment at Pur-Navolok Cape – the place where the city was founded in 1584; stop to see the Peter the Great monument. It commemorates the Tsar’s three visits to Arkhangelsk, his efforts to establish the first Russian merchant shipyard there. Walking tour along Chumbarovka Street Enjoy walking along the old pedestrian street of Arkhangelsk. Here you have the chance to view the architecture of Chumbarovka Street and observe different wooden houses, copies of local merchants`private mansions brought here from different parts of the city.

  • Visit to the Museum of the Artistic Exploration of the Arctic named after Alexander Borisov. The basis for the creation of the exhibition was a unique collection of works by Alexander Borisov, numbering over 400 works. Alexander Alekseevich Borisov – a painter of world renown, a student of the most famous landscape painters Ivan Shishkin and Arkhip Kuindzhi, he was the first polar artist, the founder of the artistic exploration of the Arctic, who with his mighty talent created monumental images of the Far North. The museum has five halls open to visitors. To go to an Arctic archipelago of Novaya Zemlya for a year to paint – Alexander Borisov dreamed of it and did it. He depicted ‘white on white’ – ice, polar bears, the Nenets and the ocean. Borisov’s paintings can be seen in Arkhangelsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, Krasnoborsk.

  • Proceed to Bus Excursion to the Museum of wooden architecture Malye Korely located 25 km far from Arkhangelsk. Malye Korely is the largest open-air museum of wooden architecture in Russia. You will see wooden buildings such as houses, churches, chapels, belfries, barns and windmills collected from different parts of the region, typical of years gone by. Houses built only with axes in the 18th and 19th centuries still stand and receive guests today. Join a museum guide for a guided tour. Learn carpentry secrets and folk traditions as well. Most buildings are viewed from the outside and there are stops to visit an impressive five-domed Orthodox church and a house heated in black.

  • Visit merchant’s house and enjoy folklore Restless host Silanti Pomorych and his family will meet guests with tales and songs, playing the harp, spoons and even the musical saw.
  • Visit to the souvenir shop «Belomorskie patterns». In 1968 in Arkhangelsk the enterprise «Belomorskie patterns» was created to preserve northern folk trades. The history of the enterprise is shown in the museum, where you can also sea unique exhibits, which were gathered during numerous expeditions on the vast territory of Arkhangelsk region, and of course the works of authorship of craftsmen. Arts presented here: wooden articles, embroidery, manual weaving and knitting, kargopol clay toy.
